TRARS 6 BIM Sharing

Below are 3hours' in-house training content dated 09April2012:
Introduction
1.User interface.
Status Bar, Project Browser, Display/Drawing Pane, View Control Bar, Ribbon, Info Center, Property Pane, Contextual Tab, Quick Access Toolbar, Tool, Application Button, Option Bar. panels, View Cube
2.How to hide and unhide elements?
View Control Bar > Sunglass black-temporary hidden
Right click > unhide > click light bulb to reveal hidden object and select to unhide
3.How to draw?
Click>set option> draw

Conceptual Mass (Functions follow form)
4.1. How to create a conceptual mass?
Massing & Site>by planes, edit profile, modify points
(If make surface from close loop is uncheck, only rectangular profile created)
4.2. Posture of building manipulation
Vertices, vertebrae(bony structure
3. How to modify vertebrae?
Number of profile inserted will determine the vertebrae details.
4.4. How to create levels (LL)?
Select one grid, offset
Copy will only create indicative levels
4.5. How to create mass floors?
After level creation > Modify | Mass > Model > Mass Floors
The mass floor has no material information
Area schedules
4.6. How to create Schedule?
View > Scehdules> select information needed in Fileds > Schedules filed hightlighted in sequence
Bi-directional associate and parametric
Others
4.7. What family types are available?
System(floor/roof/walls), Loadable/component(family customizable) and In-place families (project specific, unique)

Model Components4.8. How Create curtain wall system?
Home > Curtain System > select wall by face
4.9. How to update floors and walls to amended mass?
Select all floors > Model by Face > update to face
(All schedules and area will be updated accordingly)
Grid Detail
4.10. How to create grid?
Structure > Datum> Grid
4.11. How to equalize the dimensions?
Insert dimensions > EQ
12. How to shift Grid in tandem?
Click on the point of the grid and align accordingly
4.13. How to update grids to other levels?
Select all grids > Datum > propagate extents
Family Loading
4.14. How to insert columns?
Home > Structure Column > Clipboard > paste > align to selected levels
4.15. Staircase
Home > Circulation > Stairs > Properties > Constraints> Multistory to > selected levels
4.16. 3D detail
Development of details only applicable to selected details
Others
4.17. How to navigate the view?
View Cube, steering wheel(mini view, full navigation view), sectional box, visual & display bar
4.18. How to select effectively?
Select all, filter
4.19. How to create topo surface?
Massing & Site > Model Site Panel > Toposurface > Create from Import
4.20. How to change the display colour?
Options Graphic > Colors > invert background color
4.21. How to subdivide the toposurface?
Subregion.

Adaptive Component5. How to create other form in Mass?
 Create multiple profile at different levels > Select all profile > form  to create the shape
6. How to create parametric adaptive component?
New > Family > Metric Curtain Panel Pattern Based.rtf > create profile > load into project > subdivide > load family
7. How to create subdivide profile?
Select Tile pattern grid > properties > select Hexagon/Octagon/Rectangle...> create reference point by snapping to base points > create reference line > select refence line to create planes
Notes: snapping to base points(initial points) are important for adaptive components to be reflected in project subdivisions.
